About
"Master Reboot" is a 2013 indie adventure game that immerses players in a thought-provoking world where death isn't the end, but rather a pathway to reliving cherished memories stored in the Soul Cloud. This blend of puzzle-solving and exploration creates a unique gameplay experience that encourages players to engage with not just the mechanics, but the emotional narratives intertwined within. With a mixed critical reception, rated at 61/100, "Master Reboot" manages to stand out for its innovative concept and visual storytelling.
To achieve optimal performance in "Master Reboot," players should have at least an entry-level GPU, with a minimum score of approximately 300. The game's requirements are quite accessible, allowing it to run smoothly on a range of hardware setups. For the best FPS experience and to handle higher graphics settings, players are encouraged to aim for a budget GPU tier—good examples include the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 or AMD Radeon R7 250. Additionally, a CPU score of around 803 and a minimum of 2 GB of RAM will further ensure a seamless experience.
If you're a fan of adventure games that weave complex narratives into their puzzles, "Master Reboot" is worth exploring despite its mixed reviews. Its intriguing premise and immersive atmosphere can provide a compelling experience for players seeking something unique in the indie gaming space.
Performance profile
Released in October 2013, Master Reboot sits in the DirectX 11 generation. Comfortable on any modern mid-range GPU at 1440p; even an RTX 3050 or RX 6600 typically delivers 4K60 at High settings.
Master Reboot is a narrative-driven experience — a rock-solid 60 FPS is plenty. Prioritise resolution and image quality (AA, anisotropic filtering) over chasing high-refresh framerates.
Extremely light — Master Reboot runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.
Storyline
When you begin the game your identity is unknown. You are simply a digital representation of who you once were when you were alive, transferred into an endless network of people’s memories called the Soul Cloud. Beginning your transfer into your new digital existence is simple: you sit on a monorail transporting you to your new home, a place where you can live out all your favorite memories for all time. But something is different… a feeling of anxiety comes over you and something strange happens, causing you to black out. Waking up on a deserted beach without any knowledge of who you are or where you are, you bring yourself to your feet. Looking around you, everything you used to know has seemingly been wiped from your memory. Why did this happen? Did someone do this on purpose? If so, was it meant for you or someone else? It's up to you to piece your memories together to find out all these answers by solving the puzzles in each memory from your past that are housed in there own rooms. However, this won’t be an easy task as not only are these puzzles very difficult, but you are also pursued by the Soul Cloud’s anti-virus who believes that you are the cause of all these 'problems' in the network. Every puzzle solved unlocks a memory which reveals more about your life when you were alive: a walk on a beach, visiting loved ones now lost from your life and confronting demons who have manipulated your career and very existence. Once you have pieced together all your memories the games narrative and game play will lead you to a dramatic climax which brings the answers you are looking for but also questions the very nature of life and your creations coming back to haunt you.
