About
"Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots," released in 2008, is an iconic installment in the Metal Gear series, known for its immersive blend of adventure, shooter, and tactical gameplay. This final chapter featuring Solid Snake introduces new mechanics, such as the ability to roll on your back and cleverly hide in bins, while maintaining the series' hallmark storytelling through richly crafted cut-scenes. The game has earned a respectable score of 87/100, solidifying its place in gaming history.
In terms of PC performance, "Metal Gear Solid 4" is relatively accessible but does require some solid hardware to run smoothly. To achieve a commendable FPS, players should aim for at least an entry-level GPU with a minimum score of around 7873, alongside a CPU score of about 10651 and 16 GB of RAM. While it may not be the most demanding game on the market, ensuring your system meets these benchmarks will help optimize graphics settings and overall gameplay experience.
If you're a fan of tactical shooters with rich narratives, "Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots" comes highly recommended. With its compelling gameplay and impressive story, it’s an essential title for both longtime fans and newcomers exploring the genre.
Performance profile
June 2008 release. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots targets mid-2000s-to-early-2010s hardware — any modern entry-level GPU (GTX 1650 tier or newer integrated graphics) handles it at 1080p Ultra without breaking a sweat.
As a strategy title, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is typically CPU-bound rather than GPU-bound — single-thread CPU performance dictates framerate during large-scale battles, end-game saves and late-game AI turns. A fast modern 6-core will help more than a GPU upgrade.
Mid-range territory. An RTX 3060 or RX 6700 XT delivers 60 FPS at 1080p High in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. For 1440p Ultra you'll want an RTX 4060 Ti / RX 7700 XT; 4K Ultra needs an RTX 4070 Ti or faster.
Storyline
In 2014, the world is in chaos, the "war economy" plunging the world into never-ending battle. This fuels the need for private military companies, the five largest of which (together rivaling the power of the entire United States Army) are owned by a single mother company, Outer Heaven, with Liquid Ocelot at the helm. Liquid Ocelot, a fusion of the consciousness of Liquid Snake and the body of Revolver Ocelot, is once again set on world domination. Solid Snake, now also referred to a Old Snake due to his advanced accelerated ageing, is dispatched to assassinate Liquid Ocelot as a personal favor to Roy Campbell.
