About
Partum Artifex, released in 2023, is a first-person atmospheric horror-puzzle game that immerses players in the mind of a twisted serial killer. With a compelling narrative, it deftly weaves creative puzzles into the horrifying landscape, making each interaction significant as players delve deeper into the killer's art and motivations. Its unique blend of storytelling and gameplay sets it apart in the adventure genre, offering a chilling yet captivating experience.
For optimal performance in Partum Artifex, the game is accessible on lower-end hardware but still showcases a need for a balanced setup. A minimum GPU scoring around 2892 is necessary, making it feasible for entry-level graphics cards, while a CPU score of approximately 4142 helps ensure smooth gameplay. Players can expect satisfactory FPS even at lower graphics settings, provided they meet or exceed these benchmarks. When planning your build, consider GPUs that belong to the entry-level tier for an enjoyable experience without significant lag.
If you enjoy atmospheric horror combined with engaging puzzle-solving, Partum Artifex is certainly worth your time. Given its intriguing narrative and overall positive reception, fans of the genre will find it a memorable adventure that challenges both the mind and the nerves.
Performance profile
February 2023 release. As a current-generation title, Partum Artifex pushes modern hardware — expect to need an RTX 40-series or RX 7000-series GPU to enjoy it at native 4K Ultra without leaning on upscaling.
Partum Artifex is a narrative-driven experience — a rock-solid 60 FPS is plenty. Prioritise resolution and image quality (AA, anisotropic filtering) over chasing high-refresh framerates.
Entry-level hardware target. A GTX 1650 or RX 6500 XT reaches 60 FPS at 1080p Medium in Partum Artifex; an RTX 4060 comfortably sustains 1440p Ultra. 4K Ultra 60 FPS needs an RTX 4070 or better.
Storyline
Partum Artifex is mainly a puzzle game with an emphasis on story and atmosphere. Throughout the game, you'll be challenged with solving puzzles directly connected to the twisted works and mind of a serial killer. In order to progress you need to put yourself in the killer's shoes, and think like him in order to solve the puzzles. Willingly or not, he wants you to help him finish his magnum opus. By exploration, reading, taking notes, finding items and paying attention to the environment, you'll be able to piece together what happened in this eerie house and what the serial killer is trying to achieve with it. The more you dive into the mind of the killer, the more you'll discover things that are better off being hidden away. Sometimes the truth is better left shrouded in ignorance.
