About

Perish, released in 2023, is a unique indie action FPS that invites players to engage in exhilarating combat across the haunting landscapes of Purgatory. Team up with 1-4 players to face off against hordes of grotesque creatures, collect their gold-stained bodies, and confront towering bosses. The game's blend of stylish visuals and chaotic gameplay sets it apart in the crowded FPS genre, offering an engaging experience that balances frenetic action with strategic gameplay elements.

In terms of PC performance, Perish is relatively accessible, requiring only an entry-level GPU with a minimum score of around 4875 and a CPU benchmark of approximately 4228. Players should have at least 8 GB of RAM for optimal performance. Those looking to achieve smooth frame rates (FPS) might consider GPUs like the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 or AMD Radeon RX 550, which comfortably handle the game's graphics settings without compromising performance, making it enjoyable even on budget-friendly setups.

Should you dive into Perish? If you're a fan of action-packed co-op gameplay blended with interesting storytelling and unique visuals, this title is a must-play. With solid reviews and a distinct atmosphere, it promises an engaging gaming experience for action and indie genre enthusiasts alike.

Performance profile

February 2023 release. As a current-generation title, Perish pushes modern hardware — expect to need an RTX 40-series or RX 7000-series GPU to enjoy it at native 4K Ultra without leaning on upscaling.

Action titles like Perish reward high framerates for visual clarity during combat. A mid-range modern GPU at 1440p 60–120 FPS is the practical sweet spot; VRR (G-Sync/FreeSync) smooths out drops during heavy effects.

Entry-level hardware target. A GTX 1650 or RX 6500 XT reaches 60 FPS at 1080p Medium in Perish; an RTX 4060 comfortably sustains 1440p Ultra. 4K Ultra 60 FPS needs an RTX 4070 or better.

Storyline

You are amyetri, a soul that failed to perform the Orphic rites and therefore condemned to spend eternity trapped in a corporeal body. The only way you can achieve salvation is to suffer the Twelve Tasks of Purgatory. By undertaking these trials, you will relive the suffering of the Olympian god Dionysus. If you come out the other end unscathed, you will have proven yourself worthy of the company of Orpheus, who will finally permit you to enter Elysium at his everlasting side. If you fail the Twelve Tasks of Purgatory, you will end up back at the Pantheon, forced to undertake the trials from scratch again.
