About

Resident Evil (2002) is a critically acclaimed remake of the iconic 1996 survival horror game, blending adventure, puzzle-solving, and shooter elements. This version is notable for its enhanced graphics and sound, which create an immersive atmosphere while retaining the original plot. The game also introduces new areas and rooms, offering fresh challenges and gameplay experiences for both new players and series veterans.

In terms of PC performance, Resident Evil (2002) is quite accessible, requiring only an entry-level GPU to achieve satisfactory results. With a minimum GPU score of around 300, players can expect a smooth experience at decent graphics settings, allowing for play with modest hardware. For optimal FPS, a mid-tier GPU like the NVIDIA GTX 1050 or AMD Radeon RX 560 is recommended to ensure that you can enjoy the game's atmospheric graphics without sacrificing performance.

If you're a fan of adventure and puzzle games, Resident Evil (2002) is a must-play, given its impressive rating of 88/100. The perfect blend of tension, strategy, and exploration makes it a standout title in the genre that remains appealing to gamers today.

Performance profile

Released in March 2002, Resident Evil comes from the DirectX 9 era. Even the cheapest modern discrete GPU crushes it at maxed-out settings; the only real bottleneck today is CPU single-thread speed on older titles that were never multi-threaded.

Resident Evil is latency-sensitive: a high refresh-rate monitor (144 Hz+) and consistent 1% low framerate matter more than raw averages. Aim for a GPU that delivers 20–30% more headroom than the "just 60 FPS" tier to keep frame pacing smooth during intense fights.

Extremely light — Resident Evil runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.

Storyline

Special forces S.T.A.R.S. Bravo team's helicopter malfunctioned and crashed during their mission, disappearing into the Arklay Mountains. Now, S.T.A.R.S. Alpha team is sent on a mission to investigate a series of murders around Raccoon Forest. Spotting the Bravo team's helicopter, or what's left of it, they land nearby and investigate the surrounding area. Unaware of what they might expect, one member is attacked and devoured by zombified Dobermans. The rest of the team, with a little bit of luck, find shelter in a nearby mansion, not knowing it was probably better to stay out.
