About
Rez Infinite is a fully remastered psychedelic rail-shooter from Sega, originally released in 2016. This action-packed indie title builds on the classic Rez formula with vibrant visuals, immersive audio-visual feedback, and full VR support that lets you experience the game's trippy atmosphere in complete immersion. The game combines shooter mechanics with a unique artistic vision that made the original a cult classic.
For PC performance, Rez Infinite is remarkably accessible and won't demand cutting-edge hardware. You'll need at least an entry-level GPU with a benchmark score around 3302 and a CPU score near 1953, plus 4 GB of RAM minimum. Even modest gaming rigs will deliver smooth FPS performance, making this one of the more forgiving titles to benchmark and optimize. Most modern GPUs will easily handle this game's graphics settings at high framerates.
With a solid 74/100 rating, Rez Infinite is worth playing if you enjoy stylish action games or VR experiences. Fans of artistic indie games and synesthetic gaming experiences will find plenty to appreciate in this rhythmic rail-shooter adventure.
Performance profile
Released in October 2016, Rez Infinite sits in the DirectX 11 generation. Comfortable on any modern mid-range GPU at 1440p; even an RTX 3050 or RX 6600 typically delivers 4K60 at High settings.
Action titles like Rez Infinite reward high framerates for visual clarity during combat. A mid-range modern GPU at 1440p 60–120 FPS is the practical sweet spot; VRR (G-Sync/FreeSync) smooths out drops during heavy effects.
Entry-level hardware target. A GTX 1650 or RX 6500 XT reaches 60 FPS at 1080p Medium in Rez Infinite; an RTX 4060 comfortably sustains 1440p Ultra. 4K Ultra 60 FPS needs an RTX 4070 or better.
Storyline
The world of Rez is set in the near future on a massively overpopulated Earth with society crippled by crime rates, and on the verge of meltdown. In an attempt to resolve the chaos, a new global network was created: Project-K, overseen by a self-aware artificial intelligence named Eden. However, the increasing information flow and infection by a virus (the main character) confused Eden, allowing her to begin questioning the meaning of its existence and the consequences of her actions. Trying to fathom the paradoxes that surrounded her and realizing the power she possessed, she shut herself down. The player character and protagonist is a hacker virus unofficially named Swayzak, traversing the Project-K network on a mission to re-awaken Eden and to reveal the true being at her core by progressing deeper through the system, and destroying the other viruses, anti-viruses, security programs, defense systems, and firewalls within.
