About

Rogue Summoner, released in 2020, is a turn-based tactics roguelike that invites players to strategically conjure a variety of monsters to do their bidding. As you traverse unique dungeons, you can summon everything from weak minions to powerful bosses, each contributing to a dynamic gameplay experience. This blend of adventure and strategy sets Rogue Summoner apart in the indie gaming landscape, making it a notable title for fans of tactical games.

When it comes to PC performance, Rogue Summoner is designed to be quite accessible. The game has modest hardware requirements, with an entry-level GPU and a minimum score of around 631 recommended for optimal performance. Players can achieve smooth FPS on systems equipped with graphics cards in the entry-tier range, such as the GTX 1030. With just 4 GB of RAM and a CPU score starting at 154, even budget builds can run the game effectively at reasonable graphics settings, ensuring an enjoyable experience without the need for high-end components.

If you're a fan of tactical strategy and roguelike elements, Rogue Summoner is worth your time. With its engaging gameplay and simple requirements, it caters well to both casual gamers and those looking for a challenge in the indie genre. The blend of monster summoning and tactical combat ensures that players will find plenty to enjoy as they delve into the depths of its dungeons.

Performance profile

Released in September 2020, Rogue Summoner targets RTX 20/30-series and RX 6000-era hardware. A current mid-range GPU (RTX 4060 Ti / RX 7700 XT) is the sweet spot for 1440p Ultra; 4K needs a high-end card.

As a strategy title, Rogue Summoner is typically CPU-bound rather than GPU-bound — single-thread CPU performance dictates framerate during large-scale battles, end-game saves and late-game AI turns. A fast modern 6-core will help more than a GPU upgrade.

Extremely light — Rogue Summoner runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.

Storyline

Rogue Summoner is a turn-based tactics roguelike about conjuring creatures to fight for you. It's a game about mastering different monster behaviors and using them creatively in combat. You will dive deep into different types of procedurally-generated dungeons, each with its unique difficulty, size and creatures. Death in each one means starting over from the very beginning of the dungeon, with no upgrades nor monsters in your loadout. But with death comes understanding and hidden knowledge of the dungeons' secrets. As you master each unique creature, you will be able to optimize your strategy by exploiting their weaknesses when fighting against them, and leveraging their strengths when summoning them. Every creature you defeat can be added to your loadout, from a half-witted spider to the great Morthgaal.
