About

SolSeraph is a 2019 action and strategy PC game that revives classic tower defense mechanics with a fresh twist. As the guardian of humanity, players are tasked with building cities and fortifying defenses against relentless monster threats. The game invites players to explore diverse environments such as floating islands, ancient caverns, and long-lost cities, all while combining strategic city-building with engaging action-platforming gameplay.

PC gamers who enjoy a blend of strategy and action will find SolSeraph particularly appealing, especially those who appreciate retro-inspired titles. The game offers a moderate difficulty level that encourages thoughtful planning while allowing players to experiment with different strategies. Its unique gameplay mechanics and levels provide sufficient replayability for those who enjoy perfecting their city designs and combat strategies.

Despite its intriguing concept, SolSeraph received a lukewarm rating of 50/100, which may deter some players. However, if you relish a combination of action and strategy set in a nostalgic framework, it’s worth giving this PC game a try, especially if you're keen on exploring its artistic style and mechanics.

Performance profile

July 2019 release. SolSeraph was built around the GTX 10-series / RX Vega era. Current-gen mid-range cards (RTX 4060 / RX 7600) are overkill at 1080p and handle 1440p Ultra comfortably.

As a strategy title, SolSeraph is typically CPU-bound rather than GPU-bound — single-thread CPU performance dictates framerate during large-scale battles, end-game saves and late-game AI turns. A fast modern 6-core will help more than a GPU upgrade.

Entry-level hardware target. A GTX 1650 or RX 6500 XT reaches 60 FPS at 1080p Medium in SolSeraph; an RTX 4060 comfortably sustains 1440p Ultra. 4K Ultra 60 FPS needs an RTX 4070 or better.

Storyline

In the beginning, there was only Chaos... ...as far as the eye could see; until one day, Sky Father and Earth Mother drove the Chaos away and made the world. They made the stars and the sun and the waters and the land. And then they made plants and animals, and finally, their favorite creation: humankind. When they were done, Sky Father and Earth Mother left the world, so it could grow freely on its own. But the Younger Gods were arrogant and cruel. They resented humans because humans had been granted the gift of storytelling; the gift of memory. So they tormented humankind with fires, storms, and floods, until all the tribes were scattered across the land, struggling for survival. But Helios, Knight of Dawn, the child of god and man, came to humanity's aid...
