About

That's Not My Neighbor is a 2D indie horror game released in 2024 that puts a twisted spin on the job simulator genre. Created by Ignacio Alvarado Monge, the game tasks you with identifying impostors disguised as your neighbors, blending detective work with unsettling horror elements. Its unique premise and pixel-art aesthetic have earned it a solid 77/100 rating from critics.

Performance-wise, That's Not My Neighbor is extremely accessible on modern PC hardware. With just 2 GB RAM required and 2D graphics, even budget GPUs will handle it without issues, delivering high FPS counts on virtually any system. You won't need to worry about graphics settings or GPU benchmarks here—this is the kind of game that runs smoothly on integrated graphics and older mid-range cards alike.

If you enjoy indie horror with inventive mechanics and atmospheric dread, That's Not My Neighbor is absolutely worth playing. Its engaging premise and solid critical reception make it a compelling experience for horror fans, especially at a reasonable price point.

Performance profile

March 2024 release. As a current-generation title, That's Not My Neighbor pushes modern hardware — expect to need an RTX 40-series or RX 7000-series GPU to enjoy it at native 4K Ultra without leaning on upscaling.

Simulation titles like That's Not My Neighbor are heavily CPU-dependent — physics, AI and world state dominate the frame budget. Prioritise a CPU with strong single-thread performance and fast RAM over raw GPU power.

Extremely light — That's Not My Neighbor runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.

Storyline

In the year 1955, monsters with the ability to mimic humans called doppelgangers have become an everyday problem. As the new doorman of your apartment building it is your job to discern sneaky doppelgangers who wish to infiltrate from regular tenants just looking to go home. Check their documents carefully, pay attention to their appearance, call the tenants to clarify information. Should you fail, both you and the humans are going to be on the menu! The Doppelganger Detection Department (D.D.D.) needs you! There is a vacancy for the doorman position in your building and since you need the money and can't find a job you have no choice. It's 1955 and for unknow reasons doppelganers are more common than normal, so the D.D.D. has taken action on the matter. Your job will be to allow or deny the entry of the subjects who request entry to the building, it seems easy, but be careful, you can't overlook any detail because you could be food for doppelgangers.
