About
The Last of Us Remastered is a PS3 port that originally released in 2014, bringing one of PlayStation's most acclaimed action-adventure games to PC. This third-person survival game blends stealth, combat, and exploration in a post-apocalyptic setting, following Joel and Ellie through a devastated world. The remaster significantly enhances the original with 1080p resolution, improved character models, upgraded textures, enhanced shadows and lighting, and 60 FPS performance.
For PC performance benchmarks, The Last of Us Remastered is moderately demanding but highly scalable. Mid-range GPUs like the RTX 3060 or RX 6600 handle the game well at high settings with 60+ FPS at 1440p, while entry-level hardware can achieve smooth performance at 1080p with reduced graphics settings. The game's optimization across different GPU tiers makes it accessible for both budget builds and high-end systems seeking maximum graphical fidelity.
With a 93/100 rating, The Last of Us Remastered stands as a must-play for fans of narrative-driven adventures and anyone seeking a benchmark title that combines compelling storytelling with solid technical performance. The game's balanced optimization and visual improvements make it an excellent choice for testing GPU capabilities.
Performance profile
Released in July 2014, The Last of Us Remastered sits in the DirectX 11 generation. Comfortable on any modern mid-range GPU at 1440p; even an RTX 3050 or RX 6600 typically delivers 4K60 at High settings.
The Last of Us Remastered is latency-sensitive: a high refresh-rate monitor (144 Hz+) and consistent 1% low framerate matter more than raw averages. Aim for a GPU that delivers 20–30% more headroom than the "just 60 FPS" tier to keep frame pacing smooth during intense fights.
Mid-range territory. An RTX 3060 or RX 6700 XT delivers 60 FPS at 1080p High in The Last of Us Remastered. For 1440p Ultra you'll want an RTX 4060 Ti / RX 7700 XT; 4K Ultra needs an RTX 4070 Ti or faster.
Storyline
Twenty years after a mutated fungus started turning people all over the world into deadly zombies, humans become an endangered species. Joel, a Texan in his forties with the "emotional range of a teaspoon" (to quote Hermione from Harry Potter), finds himself responsible with the safety of a fourteen year old girl named Ellie whom he must smuggle to a militia group called the Fireflies. And as if the infected aren't enough of a hassle, they also have to deal with the authorities who wouldn't let them leave the quarantine zone, as well as other survivors capable of killing anyone who might have something useful in their backpacks.
