About
The Plucky Squire is a charming 2024 action-adventure that brings storybook characters to life in an inventive platformer. The core mechanic has you jumping between 2D and 3D realms, creating clever puzzle-solving opportunities and dynamic combat scenarios. This creative dimensional-shifting approach sets it apart from standard adventure games and keeps the gameplay fresh throughout the campaign.
Running The Plucky Squire is quite accessible for most gaming PCs. The game requires only entry-level GPU hardware with a benchmark score around 4100, making it friendly for budget builds and older systems. You'll comfortably hit 60 FPS or higher on modest graphics settings with a modest GPU, and performance scales well if you're running a more powerful graphics card. The CPU requirement is similarly forgiving at around 3092 benchmark score, paired with 8 GB RAM minimum.
With a solid 75/100 rating, The Plucky Squire delivers an engaging adventure for players who enjoy creative platformers and whimsical storytelling. If you appreciate inventive gameplay mechanics and charming visuals without demanding cutting-edge PC hardware, this is worth checking out.
Performance profile
September 2024 release. As a current-generation title, The Plucky Squire pushes modern hardware — expect to need an RTX 40-series or RX 7000-series GPU to enjoy it at native 4K Ultra without leaning on upscaling.
The Plucky Squire is a narrative-driven experience — a rock-solid 60 FPS is plenty. Prioritise resolution and image quality (AA, anisotropic filtering) over chasing high-refresh framerates.
Entry-level hardware target. A GTX 1650 or RX 6500 XT reaches 60 FPS at 1080p Medium in The Plucky Squire; an RTX 4060 comfortably sustains 1440p Ultra. 4K Ultra 60 FPS needs an RTX 4070 or better.
Storyline
The Plucky Squire follows the magical adventures of Jot and his friends - storybook characters who discover a three-dimensional world outside the pages of their book. When the malevolent Humgrump realizes he's the villain of the book - destined to lose his battle against the forces of good for all eternity - he kicks the heroic Jot out of its pages and changes the story forever. Jot must face challenges, unlike anything he's ever seen if he is to save his friends from Humgrump's dark forces and restore the book's happy ending.
