About

"Voyager," released in 1989, is an engaging first-person spacecraft shooter that combines elements of adventure, casual gaming, and simulation. Notable for its use of polygon graphics, the game immerses players in a unique interstellar experience, allowing for exploration and combat among the stars. Its innovative design for the time laid the groundwork for future space-themed gaming adventures.

When it comes to PC performance, "Voyager" is quite accessible, thanks to its modest hardware requirements. The game runs well on entry-level GPUs, with a minimum score of around 300. Players can expect smooth performance and decent FPS even on lower-end systems, where 1 GB of RAM suffices. For optimal gameplay, a budget-friendly GPU is more than capable of delivering decent graphics settings, ensuring an enjoyable experience without the need for high-end components.

If you're a fan of indie simulation games and appreciate nostalgia, "Voyager" is worth your time. With its charming gameplay and rich genre blend, this title offers a distinctive gaming experience that resonates with both casual players and adventure enthusiasts alike.

Performance profile

Released in December 1989, Voyager predates modern GPU acceleration as we know it today. It runs effortlessly on virtually any current hardware, including integrated graphics and entry-level laptops — framerate is limited by the engine, not the GPU.

Simulation titles like Voyager are heavily CPU-dependent — physics, AI and world state dominate the frame budget. Prioritise a CPU with strong single-thread performance and fast RAM over raw GPU power.

Extremely light — Voyager runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.

Storyline

The roxis (enemy) have gathered their resorses on the ten moons of Saturn. Starting on Janus, each successive moon is defended by deadlier troops guarding a more lethal array of weaponry. Only one guy in the universe is brave and foolish enough to try and take them out:l Luke Snayles -convict, ex-pilot,...psychopath. All earth's defence forces have been annihilated,so Snayles is the last hope. Travelling in his small craft and equipped with limited facilities,he must destroy all of the aggressors on each moon,in order to eliminate the installations and progress to the next via a "warp gate". Along the way he can scoop equipment pods to substantially increase his weaponry and other facilities. The mission begins...
