About
Water Planet, released in 2017, is a first-person adventure game that immerses players in a distant blue world. As you gather resources to fuel your interstellar ship, the on-board A.I. Gemini guides you through stunning sunken ruins and ocean depths, all while you enjoy the captivating music of VIRGO. This indie simulation combines exploration with a unique auditory experience, making it notable among its peers.
When it comes to PC performance, Water Planet is relatively accessible, requiring just an entry-level GPU with a minimum score of approximately 9638. Players can expect smooth gameplay across a range of setups, with a minimum of 4 GB of RAM recommended. To achieve optimal FPS, those using a mid-range GPU like the NVIDIA GTX 1050 or AMD Radeon RX 560 should experience solid performance even at higher graphics settings.
Should you play Water Planet? With a rating of 60/100, it may not appeal to everyone, but if you enjoy indie adventures and unique soundtracks, it’s worth a shot. The exploration and resource-gathering mechanics provide a fulfilling experience, especially for fans of adventure and simulation genres.
Performance profile
October 2017 release. Water Planet was built around the GTX 10-series / RX Vega era. Current-gen mid-range cards (RTX 4060 / RX 7600) are overkill at 1080p and handle 1440p Ultra comfortably.
Simulation titles like Water Planet are heavily CPU-dependent — physics, AI and world state dominate the frame budget. Prioritise a CPU with strong single-thread performance and fast RAM over raw GPU power.
Mid-range territory. An RTX 3060 or RX 6700 XT delivers 60 FPS at 1080p High in Water Planet. For 1440p Ultra you'll want an RTX 4060 Ti / RX 7700 XT; 4K Ultra needs an RTX 4070 Ti or faster.
Storyline
"Upon entering the atmosphere of a distant blue world, you are awoken from cryosleep to gather resources to fuel your interstellar journey onward. With the guidance of your on-board A.I., Gemini, hunt down crystal shards amid sunken monuments and alien flora. When intermittent energy surges disable the link between you and Gemini, encounter a lone cybernetic jellyfish named Aqua. Travel through portals, dive to the depths of the ocean and fly on a hover transport that connects the ruins of a lost civilization. Enter the world and music of VIRGO on Water Planet before you launch back into hyperspace."
