About
White Shadows, released in 2021, is an indie action-adventure game that immerses players in a bizarre and dark fable about escaping a distorted world. Set in a post-apocalyptic environment where humanity has evolved into half-human, half-animal beings, the game challenges players to navigate the ominous White City, a sprawling network of towers shrouded in mystery. Its striking visual style and unique narrative set it apart, making it a notable entry in the indie genre.
In terms of PC performance, White Shadows is relatively accessible, requiring a minimum GPU score of around 5977 and a CPU score of approximately 1301. Players will need at least 8 GB of RAM to ensure smooth gameplay. For those looking to achieve optimal FPS, a mid-range GPU is recommended, enabling users to enjoy rich graphics settings without sacrificing performance. High-end cards can further enhance the visuals and frame rates for a more fluid gaming experience.
With a rating of 68/100, White Shadows appeals to fans of action-adventure and casual indie games. While it may not be for everyone, its engaging storyline and unique aesthetic make it worth considering for those looking to explore a captivating narrative within a visually arresting world.
Performance profile
Released in December 2021, White Shadows targets RTX 20/30-series and RX 6000-era hardware. A current mid-range GPU (RTX 4060 Ti / RX 7700 XT) is the sweet spot for 1440p Ultra; 4K needs a high-end card.
White Shadows is a narrative-driven experience — a rock-solid 60 FPS is plenty. Prioritise resolution and image quality (AA, anisotropic filtering) over chasing high-refresh framerates.
Entry-level hardware target. A GTX 1650 or RX 6500 XT reaches 60 FPS at 1080p Medium in White Shadows; an RTX 4060 comfortably sustains 1440p Ultra. 4K Ultra 60 FPS needs an RTX 4070 or better.
Storyline
White Shadows is a modern fable, a distorted mirror of our own world, funny, messed up and a little meaningful. A long time has passed since The Catastrophe. Humanity is half human, half animal. What remains of civilization lives in The White City, a vast network of towers rising high into a dark sky. It’s a harsh world, based on the worship of the White Light -- and a lie. White Shadows tells the story of little Ravengirl trying to escape this huge city, its deadly traps and weird trials. To set herself free, Ravengirl needs to find her way into the brightest highs and the darkest depths of the city, discovering her own destiny in the place where the last free people live. White Shadows is a cinematic puzzle platformer -- immerse yourself in a unique, handcrafted dystopia where equal parts entertainment and social criticism form the weirdest playing experience of the year!
