About

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is a 2015 first-person action shooter that serves as a prequel to Wolfenstein: The New Order. Developed by MachineGames, the game delivers intense combat across eight chapters with an engaging narrative centered on war hero B.J. Blazkowicz. It combines thrilling gunplay with immersive storytelling, establishing itself as a solid entry in the classic franchise revival.

The game is quite accessible from a performance standpoint, making it an excellent benchmark title for older or budget gaming systems. You'll need at least an entry-level GPU with a score around 1847 and a CPU score of approximately 2929 to meet minimum requirements, along with 4 GB of RAM. Most modern mid-range GPUs will easily achieve high FPS at standard graphics settings, making this an ideal game for stress testing older hardware or verifying baseline performance benchmarks.

If you enjoy fast-paced action games with solid gunplay mechanics, Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is worth playing. With a respectable rating of 77/100, it offers a compelling campaign that fans of the genre will appreciate.

Performance profile

Released in May 2015, Wolfenstein: The Old Blood sits in the DirectX 11 generation. Comfortable on any modern mid-range GPU at 1440p; even an RTX 3050 or RX 6600 typically delivers 4K60 at High settings.

Action titles like Wolfenstein: The Old Blood reward high framerates for visual clarity during combat. A mid-range modern GPU at 1440p 60–120 FPS is the practical sweet spot; VRR (G-Sync/FreeSync) smooths out drops during heavy effects.

Extremely light — Wolfenstein: The Old Blood runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.

Storyline

The year is 1946 and the Nazis are on the brink of winning World War II. In an effort to turn the tide in the allies’ favor, B.J. Blazkowicz must embark on an epic, two-part mission deep within Bavaria. Part one of Wolfenstein: The Old Blood - Rudi Jäger and the Den of Wolves - pits BJ Blazkowicz against a maniacal prison warden as he breaks into Castle Wolfenstein in an attempt to steal the coordinates to General Deathshead’s compound. In part two – The Dark Secrets of Helga Von Schabbs – our hero's search for the coordinates leads him to the city of Wulfburg where an obsessed Nazi archaeologist is exhuming mysterious artifacts that threaten to unleash a dark and ancient power.
