About
Xera: Survival, released in 2021, is an action-focused, open world survival shooter that immerses players in a thrilling PvPvE environment. Working either solo or with teammates, players must gather resources, build and defend their bases, and fend off not only fellow mercenaries but also relentless robotic foes known as Xoids. The game’s blend of strategy and action, coupled with its dynamic hunting gameplay, sets it apart in the indie gaming scene.
For those looking to benchmark their PC performance while playing Xera: Survival, the requirements are relatively accessible. The game runs well on entry-level GPUs, with a minimum score of around 4260 being necessary to achieve decent FPS. A budget-friendly GPU recommendation could include options like the NVIDIA GTX 1650 or AMD RX 550. Players will also need a CPU with a minimum score of approximately 351 and at least 8 GB of RAM to ensure smooth gameplay at moderate graphics settings.
With a solid rating of 84/100, Xera: Survival is worth playing for fans of action and adventure genres. Its engaging gameplay mechanics and compelling atmosphere provide an exciting experience, making it a worthwhile addition to any PC gamer's library. Whether you thrive on competition or enjoy cooperative gameplay, this title delivers on multiple fronts.
Performance profile
Released in September 2021, Xera: Survival targets RTX 20/30-series and RX 6000-era hardware. A current mid-range GPU (RTX 4060 Ti / RX 7700 XT) is the sweet spot for 1440p Ultra; 4K needs a high-end card.
As a strategy title, Xera: Survival is typically CPU-bound rather than GPU-bound — single-thread CPU performance dictates framerate during large-scale battles, end-game saves and late-game AI turns. A fast modern 6-core will help more than a GPU upgrade.
Entry-level hardware target. A GTX 1650 or RX 6500 XT reaches 60 FPS at 1080p Medium in Xera: Survival; an RTX 4060 comfortably sustains 1440p Ultra. 4K Ultra 60 FPS needs an RTX 4070 or better.
Storyline
2022: The Dawn The era of AI has arrived. The world is in chaos after a prototype combat robot - banned by law and awaiting secure destruction by Xera Corporation - became self-aware, escaped and began replication. Failed attempts to remotely shut down the AI simply triggered a war that humanity could not afford to lose. Nation turned on nation in a fight for control over resources to defend against the robots. With the attention of the world’s military elsewhere, disenfranchised operatives have gathered to ransack what was left of the Xera Corporation’s facilities, setting up two forward operating bases, safe zones on each side of the forest that was the hiding place for mankind’s greatest failure of leadership. Between these bases there are no rules of engagement, as for some, nothing less than the future of the human race is at stake; for some there is a potentially boundless pay check; and for others perhaps, political leverage. For all, the sole imperative is survival. But then again, no one expected the robots to be waiting.
