About

Ynglet, released in 2021, is an innovative action-adventure game that invites players to immerse themselves in a meditative floating platformer experience. With hand-drawn levels and a dynamic soundscape that reacts to your movements, Ynglet sets itself apart as a unique blend of casual exploration and engaging puzzle-solving. The game encourages a relaxed gameplay style, making it notable within the indie genre.

When it comes to PC performance, Ynglet is relatively accessible, requiring only an entry-level GPU with a minimum score of around 1500. Players can expect smooth gameplay performance at higher FPS even on modest systems, as the game asks for a minimum of 4 GB of RAM. For optimal experience without demanding heavy graphics settings, a mid-range GPU such as the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 or AMD Radeon RX 560 should suffice, ensuring a pleasant visual experience while maintaining decent frame rates.

If you enjoy indie titles that emphasize exploration and creative gameplay, Ynglet is definitely worth a try given its 71/100 rating. Its casual nature and unique artistic style make it a compelling choice for players seeking a relaxing yet engaging gaming experience.

Performance profile

Released in June 2021, Ynglet targets RTX 20/30-series and RX 6000-era hardware. A current mid-range GPU (RTX 4060 Ti / RX 7700 XT) is the sweet spot for 1440p Ultra; 4K needs a high-end card.

Ynglet is a narrative-driven experience — a rock-solid 60 FPS is plenty. Prioritise resolution and image quality (AA, anisotropic filtering) over chasing high-refresh framerates.

Extremely light — Ynglet runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.

Storyline

In Ynglet, you play as a jellyfish-like creature. It lives in a floating bubble with its friends. Unfortunately, a comet crashes into its home and the friends are launched across the world. Now, Ynglet has to travel the world to find its lost friends and help them back home. The story is explained through a short cutscene with no dialog or text. It offers an easy to understand motivation for getting through the levels. Each friend looks and behaves differently, which means there are a lot of fun visuals and interactions possible when trying to help them out of their sticky situations.
